What Is It Used For?
Motrin is used in adults for relief of the symptoms of rheumatoid
arthritis and osteoarthritis, treatment of menstrual pain, and
relief of mild to moderate pain. In children aged 6 months and
older it can be given to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate
pain. It is also used to relieve the symptoms of juvenile arthritis.
How Is It Used?
Take Motrin with a full glass of water, you can take the medication
with or food. Do not exceed 3200 mg total daily dose Do not take
Motrin without consulting your doctor. If you are using Motrin
for arthritis, you should take it regularly, exactly as prescribed.
Are There Possible Side Effects?
The most common side effect you may experience with Motrin Tablets
is gastrointestinal, abdominal discomfort, bloating and gas, constipation,
diarrhea, dizziness, fluid retention and swelling, headache, heartburn,
indigestion, itching, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, rash,
ringing in ears, stomach pain, vomiting. Cases of Blurred and/or
diminished vision, scotomata and changes in color vision have
also been reported.
Is It Safe?
Motrin is not recommended for people who have previously exhibited
hypersensitivity to the drug, or have the syndrome of nasal polyps,
angioedema and bronchospastic reactivity to aspirin or other nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory agents. Such people can experience serious gastrointestinal
toxicity such as bleeding, ulceration, and perforation, can occur
at any time, with or without warning symptoms.
What About Interactions With Other Drugs?
Do not take aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications
while taking Motrin unless your doctor tells you to do so. The
interaction of Motrin with these medications can lead to hazardous
results.
What If I Miss A Dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember but if you do not
remember it till the next day, skip the dose and take the next
scheduled dose. Do not take two doses of Motrin to catch up.
How Should It Be Stored?
Store Motrin at controlled room temperature 20° to 25°C
(68° to 77°F). Keep the medication away from children.
Anything Else I Should Know?
Motrin should be used with caution if you have kidney or liver
disease, or are severely dehydrated; it can cause liver or kidney
inflammation or other problems in some people. Peptic ulcers and
bleeding can occur without warning. Consult your doctor if you
have bleeding or any other problem.
